Generic - Drug Awareness for Wider Acceptability (G-DAWA) is a recently unveiled medical application provided by the Government of Gujarat. This innovative app aims to raise public awareness on generic medications.

The app serves as a comprehensive generic medicine search engine, detailing a wide array of branded medicines along with their corresponding generic counterparts and maximum retail prices. It furnishes essential information on drug compositions and presents a comparative analysis of prices among different brands sharing the same composition, which are either manufactured or marketed by diverse pharmaceutical companies.

G-DAWA boasts a simple yet intuitive user interface where users can seamlessly search for medications using both brand and generic names. Upon conducting a search, users can easily compare prices between the brand name medication and its generic alternative. By simply entering the prescribed medicine name and executing a search, pertinent results are promptly displayed, offering detailed information on the specified medicine as well as its generic substitutes, categorized by manufacturer and arranged in ascending order of price.

Notably, the app is currently available in English, with plans to incorporate additional features in subsequent updates. These forthcoming features will aim to provide users with comprehensive guidance on dosages, common usage practices, warnings, potential drug interactions, as well as dos and don'ts associated with various medications.
